Cray, Cray, Be Gone!

On occasion   time seems to run away from you and you only notice its passing when its smacks you in the face.  That was the case when I saw the date of my last posting on this Blog. I was so caught up in cray cray that I would forget to breathe. After a long inhale and exhale I think I’ve caught by breathe. If you been following my sporadic Facebook postings you know of the cray cray I refer to, no need to elaborate, for those that haven’t lets just say that your health is the most precious gift and blessing we posses.
What kept me sane through all the madness was my art, however infrequent I was able to create. I managed to keep a steady keel in rough waters. I’m posting some of the WIPS here so you can see what’s coming down the pike.

On another front, I was determined to submit some artwork to various publications for consideration. That effort, I’m happy to say, bore fruit. I’m thrilled to announce that some of my work will be in this falls editions of Art Doll Quarterly and Somerset Holidays and Celebrations.
Surprisingly enough another accomplishment is the opening of my Etsy Shop…Finally! So now, those of you that cant make it to either Halloween and Vine or Spirits in Sanford can always get your Halloween fix there year round and not miss out on the fun.

Of course as usual I look forward to seeing a lot of you at this years Halloween and Vine and or Spirits in Sanford.

Im Still Standing!

finally a blogpost! I'm sure most of you thought that I was MIA, which is understandable given the apperant vanishing act.  Well my freinds nothing could be farthernfrommthe truth. Depsite what has been a rough year health wise, with a little help and a lot of faith Ive managed to create some interesting characters, mostly in the form of lanterns. Ive discovered I have a certain affinity for them. that being said Ive tried to stretch their boundaries.  Of course there are the ones based on traditional vintage lanterns with a modern take on them and then the unexpected. singing mushrooms, JOL carriages, marching drum players... you get the idea.
I wish I could have posted more WIPS, but lately I can't seem to walk and chew gum at the same time. So I. sharing some images of what to expect at the upcoming shows for this season that Ill be attending, which reminds me, I do hope to see many of you at .Halloween &  Vine Septemberm 28th in Petaluma California or at Spirits in Sanford October 5th in Sanford Florida

Anyway here are some of the creations you could expect to find and stake a claim to:

I look forward to seeing all of you familiar faces and some exciting new ones, please come introduce yourselves.

Now that I’m catching my breath I would like to send out a quick but heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in this years Spirits in Sanford, Wow! So much fun was had. Thank you to the wonderful collectors, faithful and new. Thanks to all the talented Artist that get together and make their creations available. And thanks to the hard working and dedicated organizers that keep making the show a great success and a destination for all Halloween lovers.
That said. time now for some eye candy. Wish I could have been in more than one place at a time so that I could have snapped up all the goings on. Apologize for anyone or thing that I couldn’t catch on film.

The Great Pumpkin who, brought along Mr. Bones, standing and greeting guest by a vintage Hearst outside the gallery.
The fun started on preview night as everyone brought there appetite for food, drink, fun, friends and art.

Couldn’t help a photo op with sweet Robyn who’s gaze was mesmerizing...
Everyone was all decked out in their Halloween finery...
Before long the gallery was packed to the gills…

We all reluctantly called it an early night in order to be fresh for the next day. It’s a good thing as well cause the crowd was there waiting for us to open the doors to fun.
All in all it was a fantastic time for everyone, and everyone is already looking forward to next year. So thanks again for your continued support and encouragement on behalf of everyone at Spirits in Sanford, see you next year!

The Show Must Go On

The Show Must Go On

Hello everyone. Finally able to sit and jot down some worlds in-between shows. First off a most heart felt thank you to all the collectors and artist that made Halloween and Vine a bang of a show. It's alway been a wonderful venue but, Lesley, Stephanie and Dennis brought in some wonderful new energy and artist. Thank you for all their hard work.

There were the usual suspects of artist and collectors, and many new ones whom Im store be putting H&V on their annual schedule of events. I was alone so I wasn't able to document all the goings on as I wanted to. Apologies for blurry pics.

There were early morning risers that make up the long line that has become tradition at H&V, by opening time it went round the building and down the block. Some of my favorite collectors and all around wonderful people could be found at the front of the line.

Inside was chuck full of pumpkins  and amazing halloween art. Every where you looked there was talent, building excitement and anticipation. I know that it was difficult for me to choose which piece or pieces were going home with me this year within my budget. I can only imagine what everyone else goes through to make that excruciating decision. I only wish is that I could go home with one of everyone's.

Jenny Adams

Jack Roads

It was great fun to catch up with old friends and make new ones all sharing the same enthusiasm for all things Halloween. I look forward to being part of next years show, and can't wait to see what the H&V team has up their sleeves. If this years success was any indication then "the skys' the limit".

Meanwhile Im busily preparing for Spirits in Sanford on October 13th. I can't believe it's only days away. This years line up is stellar and from all  early indications and buzz will be a smash. Be sure to get there early for the best treasure. Now back to packing, and once again thank you for everyone's continued support and encouragement.
